So this year’s colour of the year from Pantone is Ultra Violet. Or colour number 18-3838.
WHAT REALLY?!!!! – well yes, and it works
Every year Pantone a major design resource for colours comes up with their prediction for the colour of the year, and the reaction is can be one of surprise “what really?”. This year I have seen a lot of gasps, but could they be right?
How to use Ultra Violet in Fabrics?
So my focus is on soft furnishings, mainly curtains and blinds. How could it be used in our homes? and should we use it? Well I think yes! Or at the very least take it as inspiration to think of similar colours and tones. So I have gone through some of the fabric collections I have and realise that is an inspiring choice. It certainly can match with all the bold tropical and animal designs that are all around this year. If bold is not your thing, and you prefer the neutral palette how would a hint of the colour look? Here are a few quick photos of fabrics that you can see in the workroom:
So what you you think a year from now?
So a year from now, what do you reckon? I find that this is a refreshing choice and by December there will be flashes of Ultra Violet everywhere. Not just in interiors such as curtains, blinds wallpapers and paints, but in clothes, shoes, gifts and many products.
Ultra Violet is definitely a bold choice.
